Ugh, the villians' special abilites are each more digusting than the last. At the risk of spoiling, the dude pulled his own humerus out and wielded it as a sword. How did Kishimoto-sensei come up with this one? It just boggles me that it would be a good battle strategy in any way to pause while you pull out your arm bone through your shoulder. It does seem to have the effect of dumbfounding your opponent for 1d4 rounds, but aagh!
Aww, Kiba loves his puppy.
And Shikamaru is teh really cool adjective. I want to smush his brain. He ponders the mathematics of music ♥♥♥
I went to the Cloisters with my dad a few days ago. It's a section of the Metropolitan Museum of Art which houses much of their artwork from the Middle Ages. I'm not really one for art museums, but my dad is an artist and will often say the strangest things about the things he sees so he's fun to listen to. I also got to find out exactly how rusty my Latin is when trying to read the inscriptions. The exhibits were mainly architectural pieces (rooms from churches and monasteries, windows and doors, and of course some cloisters) and sculptures. I really enjoyed it. I prefer solid, tactile objects over drawings or paintings, although obviously I like those too since manga makes me all googly-eyed. Maybe it's because paintings are representations of objects, while sculpture is an object. (You could argue that a painting is an object.)
Argh. I'm tripping over my words here trying to find the right ones to express what it is that makes me prefer one over the other. I hate to write because it frustrates me that I can't communicate my feelings adequately, much less precisely. How can I explain why I find math pretty? How else can explain how much I wanted to fondle those illustrated manuscripts and drool over the calligraphy? Bah on my inability to write.
Chapter 89 of Fruits Basket came out and somehow I missed it because I'm a bad girl who doesn't read her e-mail.
I shall comment as I read:
-- But Kyou, if Hana-chan married Kazuma think of how eventful life would be. *hee hee* -- Kyou... Kyou's catching a clue? Can it be? Can it really be? Teh Blushing! -- Tooru doesn't know what a DVD is, OMG so cute. -- Momiji, you are an intuitive little bunny. Can I hug and kidnap you? -- What's with Mogeta popping up randomly? -- Haru and Hiro - what strange interaction ^^;; -- No! No, Kisa, don't you dare angst about that. That will irritate me. -- Sometimes I think Manabe is like a cross between Shigure and Momiji, as odd as that seems. -- Princess! *chokes on drink* *falls over* *dies* Manabe, I <3 you. -- No, no no no! Kyou, don't be stupid, you had a clue! You can't forgive yourself for thinking that? Well, I can't forgive you for thinking THAT!
Erk. I took a nasty blow to the head during a spirited game of poke-the-nose. Owww, it hurts. If my IQ dropped a few points we can blame it on this. *clutches brain* This is also why this post consists of short fragmented thoughts.
Do the Full Metal Alchemist subs have a regular release day? It seems like 19 should be out already. *needs fix*
Re: Naruto anime ep 70 - One of many reasons why I <3 Shikamaru. They are doing a good job bringing the manga to life. Speaking of which...
Re: Naruto manga ch 204 - !!!%&#$ *spoiler*
Lastly, Hikaru, you especially should be interested, we're having an Aishiteru ze Baby wallpaper contest over at Suspicious Acorns to have some buzz before the anime starts. Prizes are yet unnamed goodies, but, yes, there are prizes.
It's a little late, but I finally read Fruits basket chapter 88...
Cinderella-ppoi mono ^^;;
^___________^ <-- This is only a goofy grin on my face from that zen-like inner peace one feels after experiencing a moment of great glee when all is right with the world. This chapter was hysterical! What I wouldn't give to see it animated. The Kaibara High School playwrights outdid themselves.
So it rained in here several days ago. This was due to the ton of snow piled up on the roof which, when it began to melt, couldn't flow down the frozen gutters and decided to come into the house instead. Roof guy said he'd fix it once the gutters were unfrozen (i.e. let it continue to leak until it's all gone >_<. Which it did.) Finally he came and supposedly fixed it. Since it rained a day or two later, both inside and outside the house, we supposed wrong. Very, very not happy. Steve told the roof guy in no uncertain terms that he was going to do it right this time. Later that night a pipe in the closet between the kitchen and bathroom started leaking. Even here it's not the easiet thing to find a plumber at 5:00 in the morning. Then something happened to the phone line and Steve had to use my cell phone to call the phone company to come fix that too. The pipe is going to cost an arm, a leg, and six kidneys to fix, which we don't have, so the plumber went home and we have a bucket in the closet which we empty every couple of hours.
So he's tired and cranky, I'm tired and cranky, and things are generally sucking very much.
That was just the worst Final Jeopardy question ever. I've wondered over the last several years whether Jeopardy really had become "Jeopardy for Dummies" or if it had always been this way and I didn't notice because the last time I watched it on a regular basis I was still a kid. This question pretty much cinches it. I'm quoting it as accurately as possible; the category was "Ripped From the Headlines":
"A November 2003 report said that simple tree-trimming could have prevented this event that affected 50 million people in August."
(A) - What's the deal with Jeopardy asking a final question about something non-obscure that happened ONLY SIX MONTHS AGO?
and (B) - None of them could answer it! One left it blank (inexcusable) and as for the other two, I'd like to see 'forest fires' affect 50 million people, because you know, it makes perfect sense for 50 million people to be in or very close to a forest.
I missed the intros but I'm sure it's safe to say that none of the contestants were from the east coast. They'd remember a little thing like a black out on a really hot night in the middle of August.
This season's new Ribon anime will be none other than the silly-titled Aishiteru ze, Baby. I'm looking forward to it and I have high hopes because it'll be difficult to mess it up (looks pointedly at Ultra Maniac and especially DNAngel). It's a story that can handle filler episodes without a problem. Much obliged toHikaru for informing me.
Now for the requisite pimping. For those unfamiliar with Aishiteru ze, Baby, Hikaru has a short summary here, and I posted a cracked-out summary in her comments area that I'm reposting here:
AiBaby in one paragraph or less:
Yuzuyu's (baby 5) mom went AWOL. Staying with family now. Cousin Kippei onii-chan saddled with a good portion of the duties. He's a decent average high school guy. Brings her to and from Kindergarten. They bond. Oh, how sweet. Kippei is popular with the girls. This is very good from a guy standpoint. Kokoro (yes, Kokoro) is girl with issues. Kippei picks her. They bond. Oooh, how touchy feely. Yuzuyu's mom shows up again only to continue to be deadbeat. Goes away. Aww, how sad! But then the story wouldn't go on if she stayed, so it's ok. Other stuff happens, mostly alternating between Kippei trying to be responsible with Yuzuyu and Kippei wanting in Kokoro's pants.
It seems that I don't have many AiBaby pictures up in the Ribon section at Suspicious Acorns. I'll have to rectify that on the next update.
