Steve's bedroom window faces east. No bedroom should ever face east. The sun is not welcome when I am sleeping. Luckily this isn't too bothersome because we never open the shades. Ol' Bright And Shiny's demonic light does not penetrate this domain. The problem, it turns out, is that the front door also faces east and has recently become shiny white with new shiny white concrete in front of it. Now that the sun is higher in the sky every morning I am severely blinded when I try to leave the house. The light reflected off the floor is just as bad as staring directly at the sun. I am surprised that 1) I haven't killed myself yet by stumbling blindly down the stoop, and 2) that my eyes still work at all.
I finished moving, although I'm still not quite sure where I'm currently living. Well, I know where I've been; we just haven't actually discussed my terms of residence. For now all mail is going to the mother's house, while I'm at the boyfriend's. My stuff is rather split between the two. Half of the clothes and other essential stuff are here, including the computer. He's also told me I can bring over my books, since I've been lamenting the fact that I can't just reach over and fondle them when the mood strikes me. Half of what I own are books (god knows where I'm supposed to put them); if I bring them over, I may as well bring everything else. After all, home is where your stuff is, ne? Or, more specifically, where your computer and books are.
It will be my birthday soon. I am torn between 'Whee! Presents!" and coming to terms with the fact that yet another year has whisked on by. Angst; mope; Ok I'm done now.
I sent in for my first Ribon zenin yesterday. I'm getting an Aishiteru ze Baby pencil case with little knicknacks inside. I couldn't decide between that and the Full Moon one, but since Chrissy's getting Full Moon, I went for the blue one. I wish it didn't have "I <3 Baby" on it though; I hate the title in both languages because it sounds dumb. If my next Ribon comes in before May 1st, I might get the Full Moon stationery set with all the pretty art.
New layout! It's one I dug off my hard drive from WAY back that I never had the chance to use. Posterkitty is Catreece from the American manga-styled comic Reality Check, which is unfinished and has, alas, been on hiatus for years. Oh well, it's still cute.
Steve just commented that the next thing he needs to do is reread the Harry Potter books - so he can take notes and figure out what's going to happen in book 5 before I do. Despite the fact that this conversation JUST happened, I'm going to have to paraphrase because I have a horrible memory:
S: "Like when I liked Scabbers, and you started giggling..." Me: "I didn't mean to spoil that..." S: "You didn't spoil it, I knew he was going to do something. Scabbers is cool. Who knew he was going to turn out to be a fat wizard? He bit that kid, stickin' up for his Master. Every time he showed up it was cool.." Me: giggles "He was only in like 2 pages." S: "See, he was the perfect one to suspect! Think he's a little rat and then arrrrrr *does 'arrr' claw motions.* Me: giggles S: "And Fattie's frog - you know there's something not right with that" Me: *dies* "I can't believe you just called him 'Fattie's frog'." S: "Yeah, well, he's always disappearing. I'm going to keep a chart - when he's gone." Me: "He's a toad." S: "You say toad, I say frog. No difference." Me: "Toads and frogs are very different." etc.
And he went on, dissing Hedwig, Crookshanks, and Pigwidgeon, insisting that Scabbers is cooler than them all. Sigh ^_^ he's so cute.
I just finished making final travel plans for Nimbus 2003. Harry Potter Academic Geek Fest here I come! We're staying a couple of extra days so that way Steve and I can go to Disneyworld too, and not just the convention. Steve spent a long time last night going through the Disneyworld website saying where he wants to go and what he wants to see. He's excited, it's cute. Many many thanks to Mom for footing the bill and inviting Steve to come along. If she and Kristen hadn't wanted to go to Disneyworld, we wouldn't have been able to go to the Symposium. I did my best to keep the cost down to as few zeros as possible, thanks to convention-goer discounts.
spanking hairbrushes -- Um, riiight. avril lavigne booty crack flash -- Won't find that here angry coconuts pictures -- I was going to say that I don't think coconuts can be angry, but if acorns can be suspicious then I suppose anything's possible. girls aloud pics naughty -- 'Aloud'? How does that fit into the query? Do pics make noise? "hard drive is dying" noise -- That'd be a high-pitched buzzing noise. how to pinch a car show me pics -- People are so demanding! Do this! Show me that!
We also got our first submissions to the banner contest at Supicious Acorns. Remember: Free Manga
I've finally finished packing up all my stuff from my dad's house. I came across more pictures, mostly from high school. This is cute (although poorly taken) picture of Chrissy and I at our senior prom. She is the light haired girl in the foreground, and I am the dark haired girl grinning like a doofus ^^;
I like thesetwo of Steve and I from back then (long time!). There are so few of these.
Mother Nature is on some pretty hefty crack. Two weeks ago the sun was shining and sping was approaching, no jackets needed. A couple of days later it snowed. People boggled at this: "Snow? You've got to be kidding. It's too hot to snow!" Indeed it was too hot to snow, but it did anyway. Flashforward to today. It was mild summer weather (to quote the weatherman, "Hello, July!") It is 11pm right now and it's 71° F outside (22° C.) The temperature forecast for the next 4 days: 80° F (27° C), 40° F (4° C), 45° F (7° C), 60° F (16° C).
Crack crack crack crack CRACK! Either it's cold or it's hot -- pick one and go with it so my joints will stop aching with the temperature swings.
Kamui is still ahead in the Who is the Bigger Uke poll. Kazahaya is catching up to him though. It's neck and neck now! My own vote is an ill-concealed secret. I figure most of you can guess where I stand on this front.
Len-chan, Kamui and Subaru are definitely not high enough on your uke scale. Certainly not below Yukito. ^_^
Steve took me to see the Piglet movie on Friday. You usually go into these movies expecting them to be cute, but mediocre; but it really was surprisingly good! It made me cry and it had a very good ending. It's all about how Piglet gets no respect, because he doesn't. He can't help being small and pink. *hugs and squishes Piglet* We'll stop here before I go off on a whole Pooh tangent which will involve a lot of *hearts* and *snuggles* and childlike regressing.
Ugh, I'm exhausted. I haven't slept much all week.
I visited an old friend over the weekend; turned on the emotional faucet. He fed me some of my favorite foods (yum!) and I tried to introduce him to Fruits Basket, though we didn't get very far because we had to take the time to track down and download codecs.
My carpal tunnel is acting up again. I've got corresponding shin splints, too. Blah. This is especially bad because Friday and Saturday are open house nights at my dance studio. It's not the best time to find walking and standing painful; people are watching. I danced the three weeks in a row without my ankle braces hoping I could wean myself off them. It's quite difficult to tap with all of the bandages on because my foot dexterity and speed are curtailed. Stupid ankles and shin splints and pain!
For my local friends who are coming, I'll remind you that it's at 7:45 Friday or 6:45 Saturday on 83rd and 3rd. ^_^
I am feeling fine and dandy! I had a really bad headache, but since I had dance class tonight I took some aspirin and had a caffeine fruit drink to boost it. I don't drink a lot of caffeine daily, but even if I do, it doesn't usually affect me very much. Makes me wonder exactly how much caffeine was in that thing (it didn't specify.) Booyah! I'm feeling radio-controlled.
While cleaning out my room I found a pair of old new jazz shoes. Old in that I bought them when I took a random jazz class in high school during my long dancing hiatus; new in that they were good as new. And they FIT. The timing couldn't be better. My current shoes (which I've been using for the third year in a row now) have just about reached their limit. They are also a half a size too small for me. Manhattan was out of size 8.5 W the day I got them. Everywhere. >_< It is impossible to get me to go shoe shopping twice in one year, so I just got an 8 W instead and hoped that they'd stretch enough.
I <3 my 'new' shoes. They are soft and they fit and they don't slip and they fit and they're comfortable and they fit! My balance was that much improved.
A third girl joined my dance class. She's a girl I used to see around during the recitals, and we'd always stop to talk to each other. She's a lot of fun and a great dancer. I just found out that she's about 8 years my junior O_o. I had no idea she was that young. I feel aged.
I went to Kinokuniya to pick up my subscriptions, and they had a copy of Zero-sum with Kouga Yun's Loveless on the cover. It's got an interesting assortment inside. It weighs a ton.
I bought chocolate. Chocolate is yummy. I also bought strawberry pocky because it is also yummy. No you can't have any; they're MINE! BWAHAHA!
..I should probably just go to bed now. I might put my own eye out at this rate.
I just got a random e-mail from a German girl. Thing is, I can't tell if it's actually a letter to me, or what. Maybe it's porn mail because I think it says something like "I'm a student, and unfortunately still alone," claimed to have spoken to me in a chat room, and it has a broken link. I dunno. I don't speak German, but I recognize enough to know that it uses familiar language. How odd.
