Good news for those in the NYC area: Asahiya has reopened a block west of where it used to be (45th btw 5th & Madison). I haven't been there yet, but as far as I know they are advertising that they will be selling their magazines at the same time they come out in Japan (or close to that anyway). This makes me happy. When my subscription runs out with Kino I'll switch back to Asa and get my Ribon on time for once. I'll probably switch from Asuka to Hana to Yume -- can I imagine getting Furuba as it comes out? Ah... Furuba....

FRUITS BASKET CHAPTER 84! Sorry for the capitals, but in this chapter we might actually have gotten more answers than new questions! It's a red-letter day!

The whole chapter is a Yuki flashback from when he was a kid. We have disturbing bonds, abandoned!Yuki, pyscho!Akito, bitter!Kyou and a red cap! There is angst; there is emotion; there are issues. In other words, standard Furuba fare, only very not so standard.

Haven't seen the chapter myself yet (this is from a summary posted to the Fruity ML,) but I think this has completely rekindled the fire for analytical discussion and long involved essays, not that the fandom was ever lacking them to begin with.

I need to see this chapter right now. Sooner if possible.

I am so behind, as usual. No time to download and watch anything (that means I need to use up my Streamload MB quota quickly (like that's happening) so if anyone's looking for episodes, let me know) I've got papers to write and even though that's what I should be doing right now, I predict I'm not going to do them until around 4a.m. on Sunday, also as usual. Erg. Just a week of hassles - the minor sort that just add up and get you down. And papers. Hate papers. Die, papers, DIE!

I've got a new layout in the works. It's holiday themed so I hope to actually have it finished by Christmas. I'm aiming to put it up on December first, so we'll see how it goes.

Of course, as soon I as go to post that very sentence, I find these two pictures courtesy someone on the GetBackers LJ Community. It is taking all my willpower not to scrap my current layout idea in favor of Santa Ban and Rudolph Ginji.

Am sick. Sick sucks.

When I'm well I always forget how absolutely awful it feels just to have a cold. I think, "Oh it's just a little stuffy nose or a sore throat - it's not that bad." What crack am I on? How do I always forget how miserable I feel? And now that I am sick, I can't remember what it feels like not to be sick. Ugh.

Because I had a sore throat I walked around all day yesterday wearing both mine and Steve's Harry Potter scarves. I got comments that it simply wasn't kosher to have both Gryffindor and Slytherin colors on. I was mildly amused. Today I think I'll wear my Hogwarts shirt with them.

I have had one night, ONE NIGHT, in the past two weeks where I could sleep in, and that was this night. One night where I would get more than 4 hours sleep and I don't feel right unless I have 12. One night. This past night.

This is for all of the people who (a) called to yell at me (b) called not to yell at me (c) pounded on the door/window incessantly (d) let their car alarms run amok (e) in any way contributed to my being awake, my crankiness, and this splitting headache:

Picked up my November Ribon and Asuka today. (Late, as usual, I know.) Asuka came with a nice poster of Daisuke and Dark which I will try to scan for the next Suspicious Acorns update. New story in Ribon called Para Dice with a girl who is a dice thief. She steals dice, who knew? Reserving judgement on this one since my only real reaction was, "She... steals... DICE?! Am I reading this right?" But since Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne started out equally strange, there is potential.

There's some sort of bizarro world Evangelion running in Asuka that started in the October issue. I haven't tried to read it at all because two things bother me. One, the art is painfully bad. It really is that bad. I should scan some so you all can cringe. Two, just flipping through it, the person who seems to be Ayanami spends an awful lot of time looking happy. It seems all the characters rather do. This is weird and scary and maybe it would make sense if I read it but it has freaked me.

Regarding Full Moon - So. Many. Issues. It gets so depressing at times (but I love it so). Mitsuki remarks to herself, "Shinu koto nanka kowakunai, dakedo, ikiru koto kowakute. Totemo kowakute." Maybe she reads Fruits Basket. Let's all wallow in emotional pain and suffering and commit ritual group suicide < /snark>. Tanemura-sensei is the queen of plot twists, but even so for a while now I've been suspecting that *spoiler* has been up to no good. Just got that vibe. Still don't know what kind of no good, but no good it is.

Yoshizumi's Ultra Maniac will be ending in the January issue of Ribon. I didn't expect it to end so soon. The plot hasn't really... plotted yet. While the anime left much to be desired, I still looked forward to the manga every month. Sigh... two more chapters after I pick up my November issue this week.

You are the bearer of bad news. No X or Gouhou Drug in Asuka, again. I don't even remember the last time either of them were. I predict that we won't see them again until February/March because that's when it's time for me to plunk down the money to renew the subscription. This has happened before. Twice even.

I want to say that I'm going to be strong this time and not give in. Maybe get a different magazine like Hana to Yume, or perhaps even a yaoi mag! I want to say this, but I know that when they come back they will be good and DNAngel will have a great chapter and I will submit. I will submit *weep*. Mental note to self, I should just get a shorter subscription plan.

I spent the last of the little money I had today buying a TY stuffed godzilla that reminded me of Steve. To that Q commented, "LOL Here, Steve, you remind me of a gigantic lizard that stomps Tokyo flat regularly." Steve said almost the same thing when I gave it to him ^^;; It's not that it looks like him, but it reminds me of him. He likes dragons and things that go grr (really, that's the requirement: "things that go grrr") and it was fuzzy and it had lots of teeth and its mouth open ready to bite the nosie... I noticed it out of the corner of my eye in a store window as I was running after the bus. It took all of the nanoseconds of brain processing time to about face and duck into the shop.
