I'm not dead. Had a very interesting couple of days. No details at the moment, though I will say thatI finally see what the big deal is with Dance Dance Revolution. I was O_O watching!

There is a car outside right now that has driven up and stopped in front of this house that is blasting a MIDI-like version of Nanami's cow theme from Utena... O_O?! I only wish I was making this up because then I wouldn't feel like I just stepped into the twilight zone!

It's gone now... I think I have to go sit down for a while, moo...

I believe in coincidence. I have to because big cosmic coincidences happen to me all the time. Case in point: the other day in Steve's living room I tripped over a musty paperback book called The Elements of Style by Strunk and White. I asked Steve why he of all people would have a grammar book, and he said that his friend had been reading it which was even more bizarre. I proceded to read it and overall was unimpressed. Stuffy thing, even if it is about formal writing. I thought that maybe it was just outdated, but turns out the copyright date was 1979, and that seemed too recent. However, this post is about coincidences, and what a mighty coincidence it was when this very book was mentioned and ranted about on the Aestheticism mailing list. Freaky.

This site has provided more ready-to-eat subtitled yaoi episodes than you can shake a stick at. All ones I haven't seen, too! (Well, I sorta saw Boku no Sekuhara at Shoujocon, but it was unsubbed and I hadn't slept in so long that my brain could no longer process visual input. It was just a big blur... I think I passed out...)

Fujimi Orchestra was fun.

What color besides yellow could I put Sorata in?I colored again. DÉJÀ vu. I know I said I was going to color Kusanagi and Yuzuriha, and I even went so far as to scan the selected pages, but this cute scene with Sorata and Kamui stole the spotlight.

I'm sure others have wondered this before, but it's really beginning to bug me. How on earth do Hinoto and Kakyou go to the bathroom?

And I may just be on crack, but I've noticed that Kamui bows in the feminine manner when he bows to Keiichi's mom after the dinner. I can't remember any other time Kamui bows to compare it to. I wonder is this significant, or am I just reading too much into things?

Sopping wet boy at 12:00! *mrowr*I colored again. Whee. I intended to do the whole scene, backgrounds and all, but my mattress calls to me instead. I want to color a Kusanagi/Yuzuriha scene next. I like Kusanagi. I drool at Kamui and Subaru, but Kusanagi's more like the RL type I go for. It's the big guy likes fuzzy aminals quotient.

Word on the street (or should I say web) is the June Asuka has made it into some people's hands. (I only got May's issue through my subscription on Monday.) While my first question should be "Is Subaru-kun present? (Preferably interacting with Kamui?)" it instead will be... oh, who am I kidding... IS SUBARU-KUN PRESENT? Now that that's out of my system I can go back to rooting for Karen-san to smack Aoki-san senseless and bring him home to have her way with him. Subaru-kun & Kamui can feel free to return immediately afterwards.

I scored "Ashley/Joshua" on the Which Technomancy Crack Pairing Are You?" test. I have absolutely no idea who these two are. Oh well, pass the crack.

Addendum: Mere minutes after I finished this post I discovered the answer to my question: There is no Subaru-kun in the June Asuka, just a gorgeous color picture of him (pre-eye it seems).

April 23, 2002

It's boggling, the way my dad finds infinite ways to wreck the computer in the short time he is given access to it. Today I spent 2 hours trying to decipher why my screen looked slightly odd and why nothing I did would change it to where it didn't look odd anymore. He didn't mess with the resolution, but some other deeply embedded hard to find screen attribute. My first thought is how on earth he FOUND that attribute, and my second thought is WHY did he change it, especially since I have throttled him for less. Ok, so visual oddities aren't exactly wrecking the computer, but it just shows how dad suffers from compulsive uninformed tinkering. This is also known as the 'What does this button do? -click- BOOM!' syndrome.

I'm teething. I am too old to teethe, Flipdarnit! My wisdom teeth have been coming in for many many years. Many many years. Every 8-9 months or so they cause me excruciating pain as they pretend to break to the surface. The top two came in as I was a teenager and I never noticed. These bottom two have decided that they have the rest of my life to break through at their leisure. I want them to get a move on. Of course now its seems one has finally listened to me and is ripping through my gums at breakneck speed. "OW" doesn't even describe.

The lady upstairs dumped her kids on me this evening. Two little 'uns came down saying, "Mommy says we are allowed to play with you until 9 o'clock." Really, now. First I've heard of this. I've only played with them once before. The girls are very nice and aren't really a problem, but the little one is too clingy! She feely and doesn't give me any space. I don't have the patience for that let alone the fact that this room isn't big enough for 3 people. If I didn't have the computer to keep them occupied I don't know what I'd do. Sigh. I'm not a babysitter.

Had other stuff to say, but exhausted from entertaining the youths. Next time. Now I will go happily indulge in manga. Whee!

April 22, 2002

Sigh. Guess who went to the manga stores. Guess who bought stuff. Sigh.

However, the great thing is that I didn't spend very much, (about 30 bucks). Asahiya had a sale! I love their sales! All their old mangazines were just $1! I practically bought them out of everything shoujo. In all I bought 10 or so old mags, the current LaLa and Hana to Yume, plus my Ribon and Asuka subscriptions arrived. Happy happy me with bad bad will power for books.

No, it was not fun lugging them home, but I only got caught in the rain briefly on the walk to the train station.

I did manage to find one yaoi gem in the pile: a copy of Reijin. I've vaguely heard of it; I think their label is Bamboo Comics. This magazine was... interesting to say the least. I was quite fond of a story it contained where two high school boys happened to come across a copy of "Reichin" and be throughly scandalized as they looked through it (before getting intrigued by it, that is ^_~). I think I had a similar reaction.

And, as usual, no site content. I am instead tinkering with a new database, but it's much more difficult to design a useful one for mangazines than it is for tankouban. I've been thinking of distributing my current tank database. I think lots of people would find it useful to keep track of their insanely large collections.

One day I'll get off my lazy ghetto booty and put some content on this site of mine. Today is not that day. Neither is tomorrow, but the century has only just begun so there is still hope.

Tomorrow I will once again fail to exercise my willpower. I will repeatedly recite the words: "I will not go to the manga stores. I will not go to the manga stores. No matter how much I want Data 6 and Chobits 5 and 50 gazillion other volumes, I will not go to any of the manga stores. I will eat lunch with my pocket change instead." I will say these words many times. I will say them as I browse the shelves. I will say them as I pay at the counter. I will say them as I don't eat lunch for the week. Maybe one day I will heed them. That will probably be the day that I put content on this site.

I JUST REMEMBERED! I just remembered that which I kept forgetting I wanted to blog. At least... I think it's what I kept forgetting to blog. Ok.. it's earlate, 4:30 a.m. to be exact, and I'm sleepy and delirious, so don't mind me...

I wanted to put up a page where I'll write up all the nonsense about my D&D characters (because I'm quite attached to them) and I would be naming it 'Suspicious Acorns' in honor of Soron's backwards logic and amusing titles everywhere.

Time to hit the hay now.

::sniffle:: Stupid rain. Scattered showers prevented Kelly and I from going to shear sheep at Prospect Park today. Nyerg! I was so looking forward to it :-( At least there will likely be sunshine for the Sakura Matsuri this coming Saturday. No sheep, but cherry blossoms have their own charm.

Thanks to Steve I've got songs from the Buffy musical stuck in my head.

There's something I keep meaning to write here, but everytime I remember what it is, I forget by the time I go to blog it. Argh. It's irritating. I can't even imagine what it could possibly be.

April 18, 2002

The dorky little games on the Japanese Ribon mangazine website have occupied way too much of my attention for too long a period of time. I like the one where you feed people noodle soup because it involves clicking the mouse quickly, and we all know I am master of quick-clicks and repetitive button pressing. I also like the little arcade-like obstacle course one where you're a dude in a suit with a fish as your head and you're trying to chase down a giant squid swimming underwater with your feet in the air. That one is fun on principle. I managed to do the tile-rearrangey-thing-puzzle and I suspect the only reason I succeeded is becuse I really wanted the Max Lovely wallpaper, even if it's the least pretty of the bunch. You can only get it if you solve the puzzle.

Sigh. The things I do when it's earlate. Stupid inverted sleep patterns.

Ooh ooh! Lookie what I did! It was earlate and I just had this insatiable urge to color. So I decided to whip out Photoshop and color the Soron-look-alike from the Komisch manga to make him look the way I imagine Soron to look. I took my sweet time, just relaxing and chatting with Jessypoof as I did so, and surprisingly enough I absolutely love how it turned out. I got almost no sleep last night because I didn't want to go to bed without finishing it in case I'd lose my inspiration. But it was so worth it. That's the first time I've ever colored complex folds in a way where it looks right. I think I finally understand how those shadows work. *snee* Now go drool at my boy! I wish I had enough drawing skill to make his ears look elven.

April 15, 2002

About a month ago I had the following conversation:

Usa-p [1:08 AM]: I've managed to spend a lot of time online today constantly doing what has amounted to absolutely nothing. Which is surprising because it makes me wonder what I was doing all that time...
J [1:08 AM]: hey, I know that feeling!
J [1:08 AM]: at the end of every weekend, I feel like that
Usa-p [1:08 AM]: we need a word for this.
J [1:08 AM]: ..and also at the end of every week
Usa-p [1:09 AM]: what shall we call it?
J [1:09 AM]: its not procrastination, because at least with THAT stuff gets done..
J [1:10 AM]: crastination? since pro is typically a good thing...remove the pro...
Usa-p [1:11 AM]: hmm. I think we just need to make up one from scratch.
Usa-p [1:11 AM]: like snerfel
Usa-p [1:11 AM]: but I don't think that fits.
J [1:12 AM]: lol.."I snerfelled all weekend"

That led to the new word:
flippidge (flip'-idge) - n. the baffling feeling one has when they realize they have spent an extended period of time doing something that has amounted to the equivalent of having done absolutely nothing, and they are unable to remember having having done either.

So I've decided to compile a short dictionary of other terms that have originated and become common in my online chats.

cleepy (klee'-pee) - adj. of or pertaining to a disease you don't want.
gloopy (gloo'-pee) - adj. 1. of or pertaining to the condition of the 'glue goo' that's not quite liquid or solid around the head of a bottle of glue that hasn't been cleaned in a while. - 2. of or pertaining to the condition of having sniffed too much of the glue goo {see: loopy}
doign (doy'-ing) - n. elbow
ebolrae (eh'-ball-ray) n. earlobe
make kinj/kies (mayk-kink'-keys) - vi. 1. to 'roll in the hay' as it were ^_~. also: make kinkies {see: sexing}
sexing (seks'-ing) - vi. present participle/gerund form of 'to have sex'. {see: make kinj/kies}

More will be added when they spontaneously come into existence. And Blogger is on crack again.

April 14, 2002

Blogger is on crack. I made several updates to my page template in the past couple of days and none of them took. Poo snot and all that.

We all know how much I loathe going to the eye doctor. Sure it's for my own good and yadda yadda yadda, but it ranks WAY up there on the list of Things Not To Do Unless I'm Dragged Kicking And Screaming. It's icky and more painful than any other random checkup visits and the guy is MEAN and scares me to death. At 7 years old I crawled under the furniture and wouldn't come out and the only thing that stops me from doing that now is that I don't fit under the furniture anymore. (Meanwhile, I *heart* my dentist. They're so nice and NOT painful and, well, nice ^_^ ) However, I suppose I should clarify that I hate going to the ophthamologist, not the optometrist. However, I still avoid going to the optometrist too, because I'm always afraid they'll say my eyes are being funky again and send me to Mr. Evil Incarnate. With all that in mind, it definitely says something when I decided by my own will that I really needed to get my eyes checked. Something about not being able to see across the room... I'm due on Tuesday so cross your fingers that he'll just give me new glasses and be done with it.

April 11, 2002

Ah, spring. The daffodils have been in bloom for quite a while now, big bright yellow monocots that they are. They and the bluebells are providing some much needed color around the city. Pansies are popping up all over as well which delights me. While I've never really been much of a flower girl (being a failure as a gardener), a passing interest in botany back in elementary school still causes them to catch my eye. Well, that and they're awfully pretty, aren't they? It's almost time for this year's Sakura Matsuri at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It's such a nice event to attend.

Nekkid bloody winged Kamui in bondage. My fave! What do YOU wish for?I made two X wallpapers a while back and I've finally decided to post them. I wanted to wait until I did a whole set, but I just lost my inspiration. I was experimenting with different layer opacities, since my normal style doesn't employ a lot of image blending. I used black and white manga images that I scanned in myself for a variety of reasons: there aren't many grayscale wallpapers, I wanted to use the image of Kamui's bloody eye, and I was trying a new technique that wasn't dependant on color. As my dad has said, if you can't do the technique in black and white, you can't do it in color. The wallpaper on the left is of Kamui from the dreamscape scene with Kakyou at the beginning of volume 14. This is one of my favorite visual scenes. You can see why. And beautiful bleeding eyes! Oh those eyes! There are two versions. The top is the final version which has an really light overlay of another naked winged bondage Kamui pic. The bottom version lacks this and as a result has much more contrast. I'd appreciate to know which you think looks better. The wallpaper on the right features Fuuma. These are all clips of darksadistic!Fuuma, not stickinthemud!Fuuma. Yes, I was going for an eye theme, so clips with and without the snazzy specs are included. There is an overlay of the Shinken since this is dark!Fuuma, and of course, a guest appearance by Fuuma's Frog.

O_O words cannot describeIn other not completely unrelated news, if someone could find me a larger scan of this Seishirou x Subaru pic, know that from thereafter you can always come to me if you need a kidney. I scanned this out of one of my X compilations, but it and all the other pics are so microscopic that even enlarged to this size I can't do anything with them. When oh when will they ever release a second X artbook?

April 8, 2002

Been busy all weekend. Sleep schedule is inverted as a result. Went ice skating with Kelly and her friend. Was fun, but exhausting. As a result, I was absolutely horrendous in dance class; tripping, falling, forgetting moves that should've been permanently ingrained into my body... it was actually kind of funny, least everyone else seemed to think so. Couldn't keep time worth diddly squat. I have to stop skating before dance class.

The missing chapter translations of Yami no Matsuei were posted so I can finally finish reading it, and I came across this line of translator-description which made me giggle tremendously: "Muraki's coat falls away and reveals a remarkable lack of arms." *snicker* Remarkable! Also, did you know that shinigami drive Toyotas?

Steve had the boys over to play Friday night. I was on the computer, programmer's dazing as usual, when I randomly hear Steve say, "See, this is why I don't do drugs, because then I'd go looking for Sasquatch." I decided I wasn't even going to ask. Discovering the context of it later didn't change the 'where-the-Flip-did-THAT-come-from' effect of the sentence.

In a conversation with Jared the other night I proposed my theory that the answer to the Ultimate Question of life, the universe, and everything, is not, in fact, 42, but is quite simply, crack. No, really! Why is the sky blue? It's on crack. Why are people stupid? They're on crack. Everything from politics to religion to the creation of Barney; all crack! It fits, just like adding 'in bed' to the end of fortune cookie slips. And it explains a lot, especially why some people are looking for Sasquatch.

So true, so trueTried to post yesterday; today even, but Blogger would have none of it. So bleh. By the time you read this today will have been yesterday and yesterday will have been the day before yesterday, but time is relative and llamas are wooly so none of that really matters. Instead I played happy with the scanner and fancied myself a funny. When I got my Tokyo Babylon artbook a couple of days ago, I saw a pic that just screamed to be captioned. And so I did. It's Seishirou and Subaru commenting on what they think of the story that they star in. It's not terribly creative, but for some reason I find it snicker-worthy to the nth degree.

Cover to Yami no Matsuei Vol. 2. This picture is one of my favorites I've seen ever. Lots more than Yue above.Eyes eyes eyes! With more browsing through Yami no Matsuei, which is very familiar and similar to Tokyo Bablyon in plot, I have decided that Hisoka has the most beautiful eyes ever to grace a lithe young pretty boy. I scanned some and made a little collage. Kamui has knee-weakeningly shimmery eyes, yes, but Hisoka's eyes... they are a thing of unsurpassable wonder.

Last, but not least, I declared that I would be leaving subliminal messages about Jessypoof all over my blog. I don't remember exactly why I declared this, but undoubtedly it was a good idea at the time. So have fun scouring for tidbits because who knows what you'll find. And here's a nice linkie to her blog, a dead journal, where you can crawl into the deep resources of her monkey-lovin mind to see what she's thinking.

Just came home. Found dad racing out of the house. Sit down to computer. What's this? My DRIVES are gone?

No, not the C drive. No, not even the D drive, which is good in a way, since that's where the OSes are. However most of the programs [all if it had been done correctly] and all of my personal stuff, just gone.

Now, I do not think they were erased, I think dad simply REMOVED my hard drive and didn't put it back. I base this on the fact that there was no primary slave drive listed when I booted up [any of the 3 seperate times] and the fact that I heard him grumbling last night about how 6 of his hard drives on the other computer supposedly weren't working. I hypothesize that he operated on this computer to test them, and NEGLECTED TO TELL ME so that way if something DID go wrong, and he did something to short out my drive, I would again lose all my stuff.

But I'm calm, you see. Very calm. I am the essence of tranquility. ::breathes slowly::

"How did you get online then?" you may ask, since the programs partition is on the same physical drive as my personal stuff. Well, I couldn't. But luckily this computer has a copy of Internet Explorer on every drive [not because I WANTED it that way, mind you. YOU try erasing IE off multiple drives. And while AOL doesn't work, it took two seconds to plop my dinky little alternative program on to the D drive from my old backups.

I am going to Mommy's house in a bit to play and hopefully Dad will have put my computer innards back where they belong by the time I get home. Join me in deluding myself with this statement.

To relieve my frustration, I have put subliminal messages in my blog text. It keeps me amused.

Blogger slooooow today. I haven't posted in a couple of days due to funky sleep scheduling. [Yes, I know, when is my sleep schedule NOT funky.] My RG Veda artbook still hasn't arrived, but in the interim I got my hands on the Tokyo Bablyon Photographs Artbook! Lots and lots and lots of bright, dynamic pictures of everyone's favorite Trio. It may just be me, (or Hokuto), but Subaru wears far too many clothes. The only official fanservice of that boy that I know of is the ever-so-brief shirtless scene from episode 9 of the TV series. He needs to take some naked lessons from Kamui.

Forgive the lack of the obligatory April Fools Day prank. Maybe I'll think of one later.
