Doesn't Sei-chan look all evil and suave?
The original sadistic fondler of young bishounen uke boys.
Fuuma has that title now Hehe... his trenchcoat is blowing...
Subaru-kun should be blowing other things... *cough* Stop waving that sword around, Kamui,
or someone's going to lose an eye... This is a blob.
He is googly, squishy, and cute.
He is also useless and green.

If I were a video game character I would be Kong.
"Strong and passionate,
I tend to be misunderstood,

I don't want to fight,
I don't want to cause trouble,

If I don't get what I want,
I get angry,
and throw barrels

I did it! I finally did it! My Manga Database v4.2 is working JUST right and kink free as far as I can see! Version 3.5 worked fine, but I wanted to add a few features. I'd tried adding them before, but they never worked. I got it this time! The addition of the new features also prompted me to go over a couple of other things which have been a thorn in my side ever since version 2. I managed to fix them while not really thinking about them... if it was that easy, how come I couldn't figure it out before despite all the reading I did in 'help' manuals?

I want to create a version for my mangazines, my artbooks, and my video collection as well. My first one was for my videos, but I don't have one now because they're easier to keep track of, or more accurately, I'm less anal about them.

For example:
In my video database, I'd likely have: Title, Volume Name, Volume Number, Fansub? Y/N, and perhaps fansubber or commerical company info too.
In my manga databse, lord help me, I have: Mangaka, Mangaka in Kana, Series Name, Series Name in Kana, Volume #, Total # of Volumes, Category, Genre, Label, Publisher, Book Size, Cover Type, ISBN#, Volume Name, Copyright Date, # of Pages, Price in Yen, Price in $US, and then checkboxes marking whether there are Artwork Under the Covers, Color Pictures, Color Pull-Outs, and/or Color Comic Pages. I periodically attempt to add a checkbox for whether I bought it new or used (for purposes of calculating value of collection) but I always end up not bothering.

Yes, I am insane. Yes, I like it. For someone as sloppy as me, it almost doesn't fit that I am so anal-retentive about cataloging certain things. When I was younger I would take out my lists and roll call every morning for my My Little Ponies (in case I'd misplaced one playing the night before). Oh, then there was that time(s) I catalogued my rock collection, individually numbered by hand on stupidly complicated green spreadsheet paper (which my 10 year old self took to be fancy graph paper well suited for her purposes). It's wise not to touch ANYTHING on my computer. I keep track of where EVERY file is and boy do I blow a gasket if something is out of place or set wrongly on the screen...

Now if I could just apply this organization to other areas of my life... of course then I think I'd probably be a whole lot more unpleasant.

Sigh. You know, just for once I'd like things to go my way. I asked Dad to wipe the computer and reinstall the drivers and the OS from SCRATCH. Now that isn't that hard really. It certainly causes a whole lot less problems than installing over something, so you'd think that this is something that he couldn't possibly mess up so bad, but as usual, things don't go as planned. My computer was NOT wiped... THE WHOLE POINT WAS THAT I WANTED THE WHOLE COMPUTER WIPED! How can I simplify that sentence? "Wipe the entire computer. THE ENTIRE COMPUTER. ALL of it!

All those hours at the computer! What on earth was he DOING? It hurts my brain just to think about it.

So yeah, the non-essential drives were wiped. Big deal, I just wanted them wiped for convenience, they didn't HAVE to be wiped; and the one thing that HAD to be wiped, wasn't. ::weep weep sob cry:: The registry's a mess, which I had wanted to avoid, there are random strange programs in the C drive that don't show up in the add/remove programs thing, and I'm not sure if they're important, and of course, my computer is plagued by RealPlayer. When you install AOL, it automatically installs RealPlayer for you. Now, it asks you where you want AOL to hang out, but it doesn't ask you first off if you even want RealPlayer, let alone where you want it to put it, so it ended up ::cue dramatic music here:: on my stupid C drive exactly where I didn't want it. Sigh. More annoyances to uninstall.

AND it's already giving me glitchy problems.

January 28, 2002

Eek. Been away from a computer all weekend which of course means I have over 1.5 x 10^2 e-mails to read. Yes, that's scientific notation; I type things however my brain decides to spit them out. I'm down to about 50 now. I'm in scan mode.

Dad was supposed to fix Stupid over the weekend. Suffice it to say that he didn't and I threw a major fit upon returning home and having him tell me he'll 'do it tomorrow' (been saying that since last Wednesday). So I finally got him to start working on it and upon my return from going out for pizza I find him mysteriously AWOL.

Happy I am not. "Only take about an hour," says he. That was 5 hours ago. I am unsurprised from bitter experience, though he is still trying to convince me otherwise.

Over the weekend:
- Finished watching Trigun. Was nice. Very angsty for something shounen.
- Rewatched some Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne with Chrissy. Remembered why it is I like it so much. Must reread manga.
- Went to the bookstores and got 5 smaller artbooks for 5 bucks. Was very very nice. I *heart* Bookoff. Picked up a Chobits without the insanely expensive attachment
- Read Ribon, was much confused. Seems there's an excess of talking this month and I can't understand a lot of it. Atashi wa Bambi ended, and it's sorta Mai with Yaezou, but it almost gave the impression that it's more fluid than that (an interesting thought at the very least!) I'm definitely sitting down and translating that chapter once Stupid is up and running again. Current Ribon stories that I'm actively following: Max Lovely, Full Moon wo Sagashite, Ultra Maniac.

Sigh. Back to reading e-mail. Fun fun fun, oh yes.

Got my new Trigun tapes in before, but didn't get the chance to start watching them until now. Watched the first 10 eps and I'm loving it! Vash is quite cool (Cool voice too. Very sing song. I melted the first time he said 'ore' instead of 'boku'.) It's shounen, but not overly so. Very pleasant, and I like the mystery. I hope I can see the rest tomorrow and then rewatch it Saturday while Steve's at D&D. My own D&D session was cancelled T_T And my chara Hamako-san wanted to make with the killing so badly. I have to get her that fairy lights spell when she raises a level. I knew I should have taken it before, but nooo I switched it so at least one of my 15 spells would be offensive. All this whacking invisible opponents has to stop. [Not that she isn't exceptionally good at it or anything ^_^]

Yes, the general consensus is: CLAMP is on crack. Yes, I have mentioned that before, but by golly gee everyone else is in complete agreement. Spit out my milk when I read the Venus Gospel's update to Subaru's Marriage Prospect File to include his whole 'eye' ordeal. She sums it up the best.

20 chapters?! 20 CHAPTERS?! ::hyperventilates:: As if the dear old fanfic monstrosity couldn't get any bigger... 20 CHAPTERS?! ::dies::

::recovers momentarily:: Another dear HP fic that I am highly fond of, the Draco Dormiens/Draco Sinister/Draco Veritas trilogy, is in full swing with DV at a newly released chapter 5... and now she says it'll be 20 chapters? Not that this is a BAD thing mind you, not in the least, but... DS was 15 chapters and it was what, several hundred pages?

Too... much... plot... will... over... load... can't... function... ::gak:: I can't wait that long! Man... I didn't even start following it until DV1. I can only imagine if I had been there from the beginning and had to suffer through all the waiting between all the chapters.

4 Words: "The Organ Grinder's Monkey"
Tis a book. Don't know what on, though most definitely not what Kell and I are thinking.

Then I found a similar one. "Buttons, Bones, and the Organ Grinder's Monkey: Tales of Historical Archaeology." See the looks you'll get trying to read THAT book on the train.

Others of strange note:

"Monkey Subdues the White-Bone Demon"
"Curious George: He Was a Good Little Monkey and Always Very Curious"
"Five Kids & a Monkey Investigate a Vicious Virus"
and "Stop That Monkey!/Book Has Beeping Horn and Flashing Head Lights" {it's implied that that's the TITLE, not just the description}

Check your local Amazon.com for the less-pervy details.

And dude, Asimov wrote limericks? And sparring ones at that!

I give up. What little I've written is scary enough to make Dark!Fuuma cry. The frustration at not being able to write has completely dissovled my desire to want to write. So no ficcie until my Muse returns, not that anyone cares anyway. I will simply replay the lusty visuals in my own head to my heart's content neverminding the gnawing urge to put it to literary form. On the plus side I get to avoid referring to Kamui as 'wobbly-eyed lithe naked uke boy'. As for Subaru-kun, let's not go there.

I need bacon. Lots of bacon. Fry it up.

I am now 3 short sucky paragraphs into my fic. Further than I expected, actually. I just can't seem to get into the groove. Furthermore, on the S&K list there's been talk about who's the bigger uke. The ML seems to be unanimous in Kamui topping Subaru. Granted, they both are posterboys for ukedom, but I see Subaru as seme in this case. Yes, Kamui can be more aggressive, but it isn't a question of who pursues who or who initiates what, it's how they see and relate to each other. Argh. KxS just doesn't feel right. I can't explain it, but I'll work on explaining it. It's times like this that I wish I was a writer, since I can't even visualize a nifty graph to illustrate it like I did for Harry's & Draco's personalities.

::waves SxK flag::

Course, in 'The World's Biggest Uke' contest I'd vote for Chihaya. Kamui saying 'ore' sounds natural; Chihaya saying 'ore' makes me burst out laughing.

Said S&K fic is being written. That's right, I currently have a whole sentence down! However, I deserve to be flogged because for the briefest of seconds while trying to describe a substance, I actually considered a variation of, "It was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike water." This is supposed to be a serious fic! And I meant it seriously which is even worse.

O great Muse! Why hath you forsaken me? I humble myself before you and beg for your gift of creativty.

The original quote, "It was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea." is of course from Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

I said I was going to wipe and reformat my computer today, but I'm too tired. This is not a good thing because this means that tomorrow when I DO go to finish the job and make the backups, Stupid will have already wiped himself and I will sob heartily. This has happened before. I do not learn.

Ok, now CLAMP is on crack. Really, who are they kidding? Chobits 4 first printing with the little thingie thing it comes with is $21! Crack, crack, crack! That means I have to wait until they sell out of the first printings and get another shipment in if I want to pay a normal price. I got the first printing of Chobits 3 with the little postcard holder, and it was expensive, but not $21! I broke down and got that one because they had truckloads of it in both Asahiya and Kinokuniya. I thought they'd never sell out [and I still don't think they have.] But I only saw 6 copies of Chobits 4, so maybe they didn't order as much and I can get one without the ... organizerish thing... that it comes with. Even though that thing looks nice. I don't know what Chobits 2 came with, but 1 came with a mousepad. That musta been expensive. I got mine afterwards.

And Ribon doesn't come in until the day after tomorrow. I always seem to go in the day before. Why can't I time it right?

January 22, 2002

I have no muse. When other people write, they tell tales of divine inspiration, that urge that pushes them on via its own accord. These muses often have personalities and names, show up at inopportune times, and are persistant and productive.

Which only proves to me that my muse, wherever he/she/it may be hiding, is as moody and lazy as I am. Either that or he's off pushing crack to all the little kiddie muses and that's why everyone else's muses don't want to let them play with him.

Yes, I know that made no sense, but I'm tired and cranky and see the previous post. Hmpf.

I want to write that Subaru x Kamui fic! I want to write it! I want to read it and drool over my own descriptions of a very naked Kamui... er I mean descriptions of a beautiful relationship between two very very beautiful naked characters. I wonder how come that word keeps slipping naked in there?

I want to write the long version of my D&D character's background too! No nakedness planned, but I'm sure I could fit it in, pretty naked thing that he is.

Erg... see, this is what happened. I'm chugging along on the computer minding my own business, not telling Stupid [compy's name] to do anything especially circuit-breaking... when he decides he wants to crash. So I say "Fine, whatever," and procede to restart Stupid. But Stupid won't restart. So I say "Fine, whatever," again. I use more forceful methods. Yay! He's restarting... wait... That's right. This would be too easy.

Stupid says "Invalid system disk."
"But," says I, "there is no disk in the disk drive... you mean to tell me you are hallucinating floppies and can't remember how to boot yourself up?"
"Yes," says Stupid. "Yes, for I am an evil minion of Satan!!"
"I think you're just stupid."
"Well, that too, but I still get to hold your files hostage. BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!"

So I call daddy and say "FIX IT!" even though I know this bodes even greater ill. This is my punishment for not knowing enough about this stuff myself.

I come back from dentist many days and many unread e-mails later, and I see that dad seems to have actually FIXED it [insert shock-induced coma here] and Stupid starts up! Yay... what's this... you have no drivers? Your C drive was erased? Windows was reinstalled for the 6.02x10^23rd time? BOO! But luckily I had foreseen such an event, and that's why I keep ALL my personal stuff on a different physical drive, AND I keep all the programs on a different physical drive...

But wait! What do you mean they're not all there? Oh yes, I forgot: I said to daddy moons ago, "DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING! EVER! And when you choose to forget this request, if you DO install, install it on the PROGRAMS drive, NOT the C DRIVE." ... needless to say things got installed on the [now wiped] C drive and things are a really big mess and I must weep ::weeps::. So, coming into the computer, there are no video or modem drivers, [and I bet no sound either, now that I think about it], and programs malfunction left and right.

So 3 hours later, after Stupid FINALLY admitted he had a modem, and AOL finally saw what was parked under its nose [which also had to be re-installed. Stupid AOL] I am here online. And my browser has no Japanese text capabilites and it'll only take a small forever to download [which I don't want to do because tomorrow I'm installing my backup software, backing up my personal files and wiping Stupid clean. I should not have to do semi-annual reformats] so I can't look up any of the stuff I want to look up on the Japanese web pages, which includes whether Chobits 4 is out yet, who's on the cover of the 3rd X compilation volume, what's to become of Gohou Drug now that Shoujo Teikoku is discontinued [a la Clover?], and the status of my Asuka & Ribon subscriptions [I want my Feb issues!]

To say that this situation is better than that concerning "The Great Wipe" of August past is not saying very much at all. So overall I am a very unhappy camper. I'm just grateful this didn't happen a week and a half ago when other stresses caused my period to be 2 weeks early. Needless to say, single stresses strong enough to sway the chemical balance of one's body should be avoided at all costs. That last sentence had too much alliteration. [Did I just say that?]

I had a whole lot I was planning on saying here, now that I'm back from the dentist in Massachusetts, but I've forgotten it all in the wake of my computer being absolutely stupid, but then where's the surprise there?

Ah yes. I've been formulating a Subaru x Kamui fanfic in my head. It wants to come out, it really does, even though I don't feel I can write it decently at the moment. There is one drawback though: even though it will be a PWP... it still needs a plot device, and I just can't come up with a feasible one. Also there's the dilemma of what to do about the new eye... it's not POSITIVELY CERTAIN he took the new eye, though we're definitely supposed to think so, but I don't want to write my Subaru-kun with Sei-chan's eye. I don't wanna! So I wanted to write it before I find out for certain, so I can do single-eye Subaru with good conscience, but it ain't gonna happen. Perhaps I should just wait until after the next chapter and see if it gives me anything to work with.

Evil CLAMP. Evil evil CLAMP.

January 17, 2002

Aaaghh... X news:

Haven't yet seen the X anime. My modem is too slow to procure the digital fansubs. I can only weep and hear everyone else talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The good: X gets to be an anime, period; Fuuma apparently still has remnants of his neck fetish (don't know how often he nibbles though); Subaru & Kamui still get a form of their bed hugging moment; feathers, gears, and petals, oh my!; and a half-naked Subaru... er... ^_^;; hehe

The bad: They're starting to diverge from the manga... - I suppose they'd have to, since the manga isn't near finished yet, and the anime would be. I'd hate for an anti-climatic atrocity like the X movie. I also fear there will be lack of S&K moments, or any shounen-ai fodder moments at all.

The ugly: Subaru & Kamui don't have the right color eyes. That's just blasphemy. BLASPHEMY! May the perpetrators of this heinous act have their own eyes repeatedly gouged by flocks of avian shiki... even if no one else's eye color matters, theirs do! Grr! And there's no beheading! No guts; no entrails; no pin-cushion Kamui! These are staples of X! I hear Kamui just got stabbed once with the Shinken... if he only got stabbed once, how can he have the ever-symbolic religious stigmata thing going? I'll have to ask around and confirm...

I must get my hands on these episodes! And on that 2002 calendar! And that 3rd giant X compilation that apparently has a 1-in-X chance of having a to-die-for Subaru x Kamui postcard in it! Speaking of which, I wonder who's on the cover?

A friend sent me to this site where it's basically Dungeons & Dragons with Legos. Found the following photo essay to be quite funny. 1 Monastery
1 Mountain Demon Hero on an Evil Flying Horse
2 Evil Sohei fighting monks
1 mounted Ronin warrior
4 Red Ninja
1 Ashigaru musketeer
4 Porters
2 Cannon

2 Sumo wrestlers

Steve got his new computer last night. It worked for about an hour. I have the cursed touch and after I got a handle on it the only thing it can do now is be pink. That's right. Be pink.

Sigh.

However even I can't mess up anything THAT badly by just sitting next to it. If I could then this computer would never work. I mean, I know it's my special superpower that gives me the ability to crash any machine with a mere glance, but come on now... this is ridiculous. Computer go down the hoooole.

And it was such a pretty computer too. Big. Black. Shiny. But Windows XP is very NOT pretty. It is the epitome of butt ugly monkey poo. Electric blue and bright green? UGH. I know you can change it, but UGH! How do you market something that looks that hideous?

Steve and I played the new Hack! card game the other night. It's actually a lot of fun even though my dice were mean to me and thought it was amusing to have me continually lose.

I played as all the Knights except B.A., and the only games I won were with Brian. I lost with Brian to B.A. even though I had both the Tomb of Vectra and the Hand of Vectra in my opening hand... that game must have gone through over 50 turns and in not ONE of them could I pull out that hand! Eventually I just tried to place my exit and leave and then he finally managed to kill me. ARRRGH. What a horrible way to lose a game. Stupid dice roll ones on my battles, but not on my searches.

They say that besides the Knights of the Dinner Table, there's going to be a second Hack! deck featuring some obscure comic that Steve pointed out to me [the name escapes me], and that if the Hack! sales do well enough, that they'll do a Black Hands deck. I'm all over that one. I'd love to play as Stevil [but I'd have to fight Steve for him, because he thinks he's cool too]. Playing as Weird Pete or Newt might be amusing as well. I wonder if they'll be cross-compatible with the KoDT deck. I hope so.

Part of me still wants to maintain that the good caused by relationships outweighs the bad, but I tell that part that it can just go stuff itself because I've just about had it.

I need a pet.

On a lighter note? Poo on lighter notes. 'Cept this is hysterically funny. I never thought of Finland as reminiscent of a scrotal sac before. [Nee, Kelly? ^_~]

There's been quite interesting discussion [no matter the occasional bias] on the Subaru x Kamui ML. I'd put in two cents of my own if had a theory, but I don't. I should go get me one. I'd have had one already if I didn't think CLAMP was just gonna crush it into miniscule pieces.

There's been just as much interesting discussion regarding Irrestible Poison on the C&R list. This fanwork has more rabid fans than some whole fandoms. I've never seen anything like it! Ah... to wait on chapter 12. What torture.

I still don't know WHY, but she fixed these so they work, so I'm just going to do my happy dance and not complain.

A break tag... they were fixed with a simple BREAK tag.

Ok, so I lied and this isn't my final post for the night. Feel free to stone me now.

Oh, what's in a name?

There's a reason why this blog is called "Disorderly Coconuts". It started one night when I hadn't slept in ages and someone got the coconut song stuck in my head. [Think Zazu from The Lion King. 'I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts. Deedle dee dee. Here they are standing in a row. Big ones, small ones, some as big as a head!' etc...] Needless to say this is a dangerous combination.

So I was overtired and in a very silly mood. I didn't even have enough coordination to type correctly, which only compounded my amusement with myself. Here is the appropriate excerpt from the IM with the origin of 'Disorderly Coconuts'.

Her (2:13:14 AM): JESS SLEEP
Me (2:13:16 AM): and I havd to peel it off
Her (2:13:24 AM): SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
Me (2:13:32 AM): noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Me (2:13:34 AM): I don't qwanna
Her (2:13:49 AM): but you have to!
Me (2:13:50 AM): I"VE GOT A LOVELY BUNCH OF COCONUTS!!!! DO YOU!>"
Her (2:14:01 AM): i dont normally tell ya this jess
Her (2:14:10 AM): but you need to get off now!!! go to sleep
Me (2:14:20 AM): can I BRING THE conocolues?
Me (2:14:22 AM): cofoconuts
Me (2:14:25 AM): coconuts.
Her (2:15:04 AM): yes they can come with you to sleep..you can have the big and little and head sized ones all around you
Me (2:15:19 AM): are they sthere standkgnn in a row?
Me (2:16:07 AM): becaus etI dn't need disordley coconuts on my bed
Her (2:16:17 AM): LOL yes
Her (2:16:32 AM): now go night night and you can sing with me tomorrow i promise we will
Me (2:16:33 AM): maybe disorderly hippotomorbnorjifjsofs but not disorfdely coconuts
Her (2:16:51 AM): JESS get your buns in BED!!!

...er... right... and that's only a tiny clip from the end...

And so the phrase was born. That and I have a thing for using phrases with vegetables and fruits in it. Ravaging rutabegas, anyone?

Here's my third and most likely final post of the night. Three time's a charm, after all.

Atashi wa Bambi is ending in the next Ribon. Booooo. Though I must say, I do wonder how it's going to end. It seems like Mai and Yaezou might get together, and I wouldn't mind that. I rather like them together, and way more than either of them with Sen. Sen's just a blockhead. But they both just confessed their feelings to Sen last time, so... hmm... I suppose a threesome is out of the question?

I got some KareKano episodes and watched them this past weekend. Was great. Better than I had expected. I hear the last couple of episodes get really strange, but I'm dying to see the rest of it anyway. It's also been said that the anime follows the manga [with a couple exceptions] practically word for word. I gotta get me some of this manga.

Can't wait for my next Ribon! Last chapter of Atashi wa Bambi... and that title STILL doesn't make any sense at all... the girl's name is Mai and I don't see how all of the deer on the furoku mean anything.

There's also the 2nd chapter of Full Moon wo Sagashite, which I will be following, and the 3rd chapter of Max Lovely. I really like this one. I can't really tell what's going on, but the relationship between the two main characters pushes some major buttons. I'll have to sit down with my dictionary for the long bits of dialogue.

And of course, the next Ribon has the first chapter of Ultra Maniac by Yoshizumi Wataru and I'm looking forward to it. [Getting my Ribon 3 weeks after everyone else does sucks!]

I'm itching to see what happens next in X. My next Asuka is the month where they skip, but right after I get mine, the rest of the world gets the FOLLOWING issue, so I'll spoil myself again and then have to wait a month. I hope DNAngel is in this month's Asuka. It hasn't been in the last 2.

Ok, that's enough rambling out of me. Peace out.

Chapter 11 of my favoritest fanfic was posted today. Oh, poo snot. I just realized I forgot to put 'favorite fanfic: Irresistible Poison' on the sidebar. Ah well. Maybe another night when it's not 3a.m.

Anyway. I got up early just to read it as soon as it was posted. I'm such a fangirl. I squealed and drooled through the whole thing, and it was incredibly satisfying in a 'gimme more!' kind of way. I must have read it 4 times today alone. (Not that I could have read it on a day other than today, since it only came out this morning, but you know what I mean.)

And with the first chapter of A Fearsome Business being released yesterday [or was it the day before?] it's been a very very nice ficcy weekend.

Ah, thank goodness for such wonderful writers sharing their talent with the world. Schnoogles to all.

I've finally gotten this whole blog thing to work. Go me! Only a few HOURS at that! I'm still not sure how I'm going to set up these individual posts. Aesthetically I mean. There's something lacking that I can't quite put my finger on.

I have a love/hate relationship with webpage design. I love designing, but I hate the torture that goes with getting things to work out the way I want them to. It doesn't matter how simple the code is, it won't work. Period. Not without hours of poking at it; if I'm lucky, that is.

Now to figure out some way to make this my index page without being able to move it off this server. I sense an annoying frames solution.
Anyway, whoopdee doo! Cheer with me and celebrate my first real post. Yaaaay.
