If I were a video game character I would be Kong.
"Strong and passionate,
I tend to be misunderstood,
sometimes even feared.
I don't want to fight,
I don't want to cause trouble,
all I ask is a little love,
and a little peace.
If I don't get what I want,
I get angry,
and throw barrels
and flaming oil
at whatever's stopping me."

I was in the middle of updating the code of my comments template to match the current layout when the server went down. So if you try leaving a comment and things look strange or have white text on a white background in some places, that's why. I'll fix it as soon as it lets me. It's a mess because I was saving it as I adjusted it rather than waiting until it was finished.

Because he's cool and he amuses me:

Stevzar II (7:40:35 PM): ahh.. avril lavigne.. *swooge*
Usa-p (7:41:16 PM): I was afraid you were going to swooge to death before.
Usa-p (7:41:19 PM): that might have been messy
Stevzar II (7:42:14 PM): bioswooging to death would be yes
Stevzar II (7:43:29 PM): I don't bioswooge about Avril Lavigne tho, that's just wrong
Usa-p (7:43:40 PM): *snort* hehe
Stevzar II (7:44:03 PM): There is a DISTINCT difference between bioswooging and bioswooning, and you need to understand that :)
Usa-p (7:45:05 PM): hmm.... perhaps you ought to clarify
Usa-p (7:45:15 PM): I got the swooge... but bioswoon?
Stevzar II (7:45:49 PM): bioswooging is like kind of weird, because it's like "dude.. AIRPLANES!!!" while bioswooning is "dude.. AVRIL IS SO HOT!! crap.. not the pants again!"
Stevzar II (7:45:54 PM): swooning is reserved for people
Stevzar II (7:45:58 PM): swooging is like, fanboy stuff
Usa-p (7:46:22 PM): ah okie :)

Note: Stevzar II is not to be confused with Steve, the boyfriend. They just have the same name. Likewise pal Jessypoof (and variations thereof) should not be confused with me, since we have the same name. We all need new names.

My boyfriend just finished re-reading Chamber of Secrets since the movie is coming out soon. When he first read the book about a year and a half ago, he was pouting about, annoyed that he came so close to figuring out the mystery, but didn't.

"Hmm.. she's [the author] trying to convince me it's Percy cause he's acting funny, but he doesn't strike me as being a very good liar..."
"What could Gilderoy Lockhart spell?..."
were some of the things he was muttering.

He spent most of the time mumbling to himself about who was where when, and trying to unscramble the letters in everyone's names...

He was [and still is] convinced that the repeated mention of the 'out of order' sign on Moaning Myrtle's bathroom was the clue to figuring out who the heir of Slytherin was; that the letters of his name were out of order and scrambled.

I say it's coincidence, though it is rather eerie that he was right about it.

Steve: *pouts* "And I got the clue, too! How was I supposed to know what the M in T.M. Riddle stood for? I would have gotten it!"

I dunno. What do you guys think? Coincidence or clever ploy?

Scabbers was (and probably also still is) his favorite character.

"Look at him! He's cool! All he does is sleep all day and eat. He bit that guy and went right back to sleep. What's not to like?"

He made a point of popping for him whenever he made an appearance in a scene. When I giggled at him for this he said, "What? Why are you giggling? He's probably going to die or turn out to be an evil rat or something isn't he?"

One day I'll discover how his mind works. In the meantime he's still on about the clever ploy. He's a strange little boy. ^_^

One day I want to own a really fancy chess set. I don't know what kind I would want yet, whether it would be classic pieces made out of something heavy and shiny, or a thematic set; but one day, one day, I will own one. It will be pretty and dark and I will set up the board and stare at it. Then I will switch the pieces and stare at it again. Oh dear, I think I'm drooling. I have such a chess fetish. The presence of a chess scene in a book/movie/etc immediately catches my attention, doubly so if it's an ending scene. Too bad I'm not very skilled at the game. Anyone who knows me well can easily predict the way my mind processes the board, even when I'm trying to be unpredictable. Apparently I do that predictably. Is irritating.

I'd also love a 3D chess set a la Star Trek. Pretty, crystally, and sparkly...

Steve informed me that the most recent episode of Buffy involved some sort of spider demon/monster/whatever. I didn't get to ask how much was devoted to it, so I don't know whether to just close my eyes or skip the episode entirely. Don't remind me about the Harry Potter movie coming out soon and its plethora of giant mutant man-eating spiders. I still am not sure how I'm going to handle that. Steve doesn't want to be the one who'll get grabbed anytime a spider startles me. He joked about sitting me next to the resident narcoleptic for amusement value. I say he's a meanie.

Phone's back on. Yay. Updated the design of my manga database to include more features. This is just a tiny chunk of my pet project, in case anyone else might find it useful. I am too anal-retentive about organization when it comes to books. It makes me create monstrosities like this.

The database requires MS Access 2000 or later.

You learn something new every day. Today we learned that 'movably' is a word. We are trying to fathom any instance where we would have to use the adverbial form of 'moveable'. This is a challenge for anyone who can use 'movably' in a sentence for me. If you do, you get a cookie.

Steve and I have been absorbed in the GC game Animal Crossing. We each created a town: Moosedom and RedMoose. It's nice two have two separate towns rather than share the same one (up to four players can live in the same town); this way there are more characters and more chances to get all the items.

His house is full of tacky furniture. He's got this awful neon clock that he refuses to get rid of, I think partially because he gets a kick out of my reaction to it. It's full of furniture in the shape of fruit (he wants the whole set), a giant freaky looking 'mouth of truth' statue that makes scary faces, a spacesuit, a squeaky creaking bobbing bird... thing... that looks like a lawn ornament, a grassy rug, and the Statue of Liberty. Yes, the Statue of Liberty. In his living room. Next to the all of the above. My house is pretty scant. It's got a pretty lamp, a potted tree, and a table. I'm holding out for the bookshelves wallpaper and a nice library-ish rug. I did get steve to give me his rocking chair since it fits my decor much more than his.

We travel to each other's towns, but he always gets to my town first and cleans it out! He raids my lost & found, buys out my local store, and picks all my fruit. His neighbors started moving to my town, which already had cooler townspeople, so he started writing letters to the people in my town, RedMoose, telling them that he's cooler than I am and to go move to Moosedom. Of course I had to respond in kind and send letters to all the residents of Moosedom telling them that I'm nicer than Steve and to come move here instead. After a whole lot of bribery and propaganda I think the war has died down, but not before I've lost one of my cooler neighbors. Grr. He claims victory even though more people came over to my side. He got his duck resident to say "Aflack" and then he moved to my town :-p So there!

Wow... the above sounded very...
Well, we're kids at heart.
And my house has the cute moosie nose he drew on the door.

Stevzar II (10:34:18 PM): [That quote is] almost as weird as my metaphor for the end of the scarlet letter

Usa-p (10:34:45 PM): what was your metaphor for that?

Stevzar II (10:35:24 PM): "It's like watching a bunch of naked old men run off a cliff. You can't help watching it to begin with, but once it's over you realize it wasn't worth the effort."

Mmm. Geek bio is the spice of life.
From Proglottides strobila indeed; it's got a better ring to it than E pluribus unum. Perhaps that's where all the annoying parasitic humans are conceived; born of the reproductive segments of parasitic flatworms.
And while I can never remember how to spell privilege or surprise, I never have problems spelling platyhelminthes. Go figure.

Apparently Amazon sees fit to suggest that I read, The Role of Neural Plasticity in Chemical Intolerance, Minimus Pupil's Book, and watch the Card Captor Sakura movie.

I think I'll just take a nap instead.

You might recall a recent entry where I wrote that my mother bought a hideous giant fuzzy light-up animatronic spider, and I vowed that I wasn't going to visit her as long as that thing was in the house; well, I forgot, and I was unpleasantly frightened out of my skin when it greeted me from the middle of the living room floor.

I finished watching Chobits and I'm one episode shy of the end of .hack//sign. Chobits should have eliminated the whole first 15 episodes, but the ending was nice. Hideki stopped being a complete dork so I actually began to like him. Hack Sign finally picked up its plot; I'm curious about the ending.

I *heart* Steve. He makes me smile with his cuteness. He just relayed this story. He was flipping channels with a friend a few minutes ago and stopped at some Monica Lewinski talk show thing. She was talking about a book that Clinton gave her, and was going on about how the story was romantic and sweet and gush gush gush. Then a subtitle on the screen read that Bill gave the same book to Hilary when they were first dating.

At this point in the story Steve commented, "Play on, Playa! Clinton is the ultimate smooth!"
I snorted, "Did you just call Clinton 'the ultimate smooth'? I can't believe you just said that."
"What? 'Clinton is the ultimate smooth'? Why? He is."
I giggled sleepily, "You said 'ultimate smooth'. That's funny. Because you said it."

Or perhaps you had to be there.

I haven't been getting enough sleep. I have to get up early, and I am genetically disinclined to go to bed while it is dark out.

I now have dance class on Friday and Saturday nights, which involves a lot of irritating traveling. 2 Jazz classes and 1 Tap class within 20 hours, compounded with no sleep and 2 trains/2 buses per trip is just a little exhausting. I don't know how I ever danced 12 hours a week when I was younger. I can't even count to 12 anymore.

To: Idiot Pedestrians

I do not drive, however along with all the drivers of the world who want to run you over for being stupid about crossing streets, I want to kill you all for causing stupid amounts of pedestrian traffic that lead people like me to want to tear out your small intestines and string you up to rot in the midday sun. I have written up this set of 'guidelines' to help make sure that we all get along like happy little bunnies and I stop getting the urge to beat you all down with a lead pipe.

1. Do not walk slowly and take up the entire sidewalk. Whether there is 1 of you, or 7 of you walking in a row, do not position yourselves in a way where it is impossible to navigate around you despite repeated attempts.

2. Do not give dirty looks when you see that there are steady streams of annoyed looking people who went through superhuman pains to get through your idiot blockade.

3. Do not use your baby stroller to run someone off the sidewalk because you feel the need to meander about. And with all that meandering, if you run over someone's foot, have the decency to apologize because you weren't paying attention to what you were doing. Repeat offenders, especially over twice in one block, will be shot on sight.

3. If you are walking towards someone, acknowledge that bumping into them gets you nowhere and make room so you both can pass. Do not get annoyed when other people don't completely yield to you because you are not some sort of god.

4. Do not suddenly stop in the middle of the sidewalk. This doubly applies if it is to have an inane conversation, especially in front of doors, stairs, subway entrances, or me.

5. Dude, if you stand in front of the doorway and refuse to move when the subway doors open, people can't get out! Wipe off that look of irritated astonishment that you are unable to board the train as a result. Also applies to people on the train standing in the doorway who seem to get personally insulted when people have to push past them because they are standing in the doorway!

::breathes... breathes.... calm... I am calm...::

6. Stairs: Don't sit on them. Especially in the middle of them during any kind of rush hour.

7. Stay to the right; stairs have this funny quality that makes them go both ways. I know it's easy to forget, but bear with me. If you are climbing slowly, climb behind someone else who is also climbing slowly. Do not go slowly next to them and make it impossible for anyone else to pass. See #1 & #2.

8. Doors: Some say 'in', some say 'out'. They say this for a reason!

9. When there is a line of working doors, don't all crowd into only one, especially if people are trying to get through it from both sides. Do not block and stand in front of the other doors while trying to squeeze into the active one; use the other doors! Dear Flip Almighty use some common sense!

10. All you smokers who wave that cigarette around in the middle of a crowded sidewalk while you gesture animatedly with your hands... just stop it before I flay you and wear your skin as a cloak. You burn me and there will be bloodshed.

There are more, many many more, but in the interest of hypertension I'll leave it here for now.

Sincerely, Me.
